Richard Griffiths (born 31 July, 1947 in Thornaby-on-Tees, Cleveland) is a British actor.

A boy of indifferent parents, he learned signing at an early age sequentially to communicate using the two. He potentially developed an ear for accent that afterward landed him many ethnic roles.
